Stained Glass for Beginners

During this fun and informative class, you will get your hands on glass and learn the process of creating stained glass from start to finish. You don’t need any experience, just enthusiasm, and a willingness to try something new. We supply everything you will need to create your holiday ornament, and a selection of colored glass will be provided. We will teach you how to “cut” glass, apply the copper foil, and solder your piece together. By the end of the 3 hour class, you will have your very own creation completed and ready to take home with you.

Intermediate Stained Glass

Maker Playground | Ages 12+ | $175 ($262.60 non-residents)

Now that you’ve learned the basics, this two-part intermediate class will cover several new topics to expand your knowledge base as you create a larger project than in the Stained Glass for Beginners class. During the construction of your piece, we will talk about how to design a pattern and prepare your templates from that pattern, how to use stained glass patina to “color” your solder joints after the project is soldered, and the different methods available to you to frame your piece. Hand tools will be available for use during class, and supplies are included in the class cost.

Intro to Leaded Stained Glass

Maker Playground | Ages 16+ | $199 ($298.50 non-residents)

In this introductory class, you will work along with the instructor to build a small leaded glass panel, learning the process along the way. You will be able to select art glass of your choice for your project, but everyone in class will be using the same design to build along with the instructor. We will cover lead stretching, cutting and forming, as well as soldering of lead joints and framing with lead. And, finally, the instructor will demonstrate the cementing and cleaning process. All materials provided.

Intro to Mosaic Art

Maker Playground | Ages 16+ | $100 residents / $150 non-residents

In this Intro to Mosaic class, you’ll create stunning, one-of-a-kind mosaic art! Dive into designing your masterpiece using colorful tiles, glass, and repurposed materials. You’ll learn the basics of mosaic art, cutting, and arranging your pieces. Then, we’ll bring it all together by grouting and finishing your work to reveal your vibrant, textured creation. Perfect for all skill levels—come get creative and go home with a beautiful piece of art! Optional take-home kits will be available to continue creating with repurposed materials.

Create a Concrete Stepping Stone

Maker Playground | Ages 16+ | $89 ($133.50 non-residents)

Create a one of a kind stepping stone for your garden! Materials like tile, plates, beads, glass will be utilized in your design. We’ll discuss color, design options, best practices, and have fun mixing our cement to create your very special pieces. Please allow for 24 hour cure time and pick up can be made the next day.

Plates to Pendants Jewelry Making Class

Maker Playground | Ages 16+ | $100 ($150 non-residents)

In this class, transform pieces of vintage plates and China into stunning, one-of-a-kind jewelry.  Plates and Pendants will teach you the art of repurposing delicate, broken, and unused China into beautiful brooches, necklaces, earrings and pins.

Learn the Art of Japanese Kumihimo

Maker Playground | Ages 16+ | $89 ($133.50 non-residents)

Learn traditional Japanese braiding using a Kumihimo disk. You’ll braid cord into a durable bracelet and finish it with a decorative clasp. Straightforward, relaxing, and beginner-friendly. Participants will leave with a completed bracelet.

Stained Glass Jewelry

Maker Playground | Ages 16+ | $95 ($142.50 non-residents)

Create wearable art using real stained glass. You will cut, shape, and assemble glass pieces into either a pair of earrings or a simple necklace. Learn basic glass handling, design balance, and safe  assembly techniques. Participants will leave with a finished jewelry piece.

Mindful Line Art

Maker Playground | Ages 16+ | $89 ($133.50 non-residents)

Structured line drawing designed to calm the nervous system and improve focus. You’ll learn repeatable patterns and build a finished piece using pen and ink. No drawing experience required. This class is about process, not perfection.

Textured Fiber + Bead Canvas Art

Maker Playground | Ages 16+ | $89 ($133.50 non-residents)

Build texture and movement using paint, yarn, and beads on canvas. This is mixed-media, handson, and intuitive. Layering, adhesion, and composition are covered. Participants will leave with a completed canvas art piece.
