A Public Gathering Space
Fishers Parks, in partnership with Hub&Spoke, opened the The 106 Plaza in summer 2025 at 106th Street and the Nickel Plate Trail, Strengthened by IU Health.
The plaza connects residents directly to the Fishers Parks headquarters and Maker Playground, Fishers Parks’ 15,000-square-foot makerspace faciliuty, and features a multi-use space for community gatherings and recreation with a courtyard with public seating and tables, a large communal fire pit, an open green lawn, swings, and improved trail accessibility.
The project enhances the trail experience by offering respite amenities and increased pedestrian access to public restrooms, water fountains and refill, and other Hub&Spoke businesses.
The plaza and courtyard serve as an inviting space for the community to gather, whether you’re attending an event with Fishers Parks, taking a class at Maker Playground, grabbing a drink at Niyyah Coffee with a friend, or shopping home design elements from businesses inside the building, the new space is flexible and welcoming.
These improvements build on the 2024 direct connection from the Cheeney Creek Natural Area to the Nickel Plate Trail at 106th Street, which added parking, lighting, and other safety features.
